Haemorrhagic enteritis of turkeys: comparison of two serological assays for detecting antibodies in one-day-old poults, sick and convalescent turkeys

Of 115 one-day-old poults from ten breeding flocks in Israel, only three were positive to infected spleen antigen by agar gel diffusion, compared with 106 by ELISA, indicating the preferential detection of IgG antibody which is passively transferred through the yolk. Of 44 serum samples from affected flocks, 32 were positive by gel diffusion and 43 by ELISA.
