Serial estimation of erythrocyte glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD), serum glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase (SGOT) and ESR were done in 50 cases of acute myocardial infarction. Fifty matched healthy subjects served as controls. The maximum rise in SGOT occurred on the 1st day of infarction while the maximum level of G6PD was observed on the 4th day when SGOT levels had already returned to normal values. These parameters, when performed simultaneously, could offer some diagnostic values in cases of acute myocardial infarction.
