Protease of the selected strain B. subtilis K-188 hydrolyses collagen with the primary peptide production. Dynamics of the collagenolysis product accumulation is established with quantitative composition of amino acids bound in oligopeptides and free amino acids. The protease under study is similar to Clostridium histolyticum collagenase in the depth of collagenolysis, amino acid composition, the ratio of the produced products and average (calculated) size of oligopeptides.
