The substituted benzamide bromopride, which is used in gastroointestinal pathology, gives rise to an increase in prolactin levels in normal subjects but not in patients with prolactinoma. The effect is identical to that of sulpiride. The results are reported of a comparison of these 2 benzamide drugs in normal subjects and in patients with prolactinoma. Bromopride should be used in the diagnosis of prolactinoma.
