Effect of domperidone on prolactin secretion in healthy subjects

The effect of the i.v. administration of a new specific antagonist of dopamine receptors, domperidone, on prolactin [PRL] secretion was investigated in 17 normal subjects (9 males and 8 females). A significant increase of PRL levels was observed after domperidone in both sexes. The PRL response was significantly higher in females than in males.
