The dynamics of left ventricular systole (polycardiography), and serum FFA (free fatty acid), triglycerdies and glucose were investigated in 3 uniform groups of healthy men during 4 h of restitution after the effort. Group 1 (30 persons) carried out the physical effort using Zimmerman's bicycle ergometer with subsequent loads of 1, 2 and 3 W/kg body wt; each phase of effort lasted 6 min and was followed by 10-min interval. Group 2 (20 persons) carried out the same effort 30 min after being given amphetamine 0.1 mg/kg of body weight and group 3 (21 persons) 60 min after administration of diazepam (10 mg). Amphetamine decreased the presystolic and to increase the systolic indices as well as to increase the value of the mechanical contraction index. These parameters reflected the improvement of myocardial contractility. Unlike in the controls, the latter was decreased by diazepam just after the end of intensive effort and up to the 60th min of the restitution.
