The rare finding of a tuberculous cholecystitis was raised on the occasion of a cholecystectomy of a 64 yearold female patient due to cronic cholecystitis and cholelithiasis. At first the macroscopic finding suggested a suspect carcinoma. Upon histological examination the latter, however, turned out to be an intramural granulomatous, partly caseous necrotic tuberculosis without any affection of mucous membrane and serosa. A tuberculosis of other organs could not be detected. The possible channels of infection are discussed. To all probability, there occurred a hematogenous infection of the gallbladder which in turn was most probably due to a minor pulmonary focus that had either remained undiscovered or had already healed up in the meantime. The prognosis of this type of disease is a favourable one.
