Turkey respiratory tract adenoviruses: purification and some biochemical properties

Equilibrium density gradient centrifugation of 3 purified turkey respiratory tract adenoviruses resulted in 3 distinct bands of identity for each virus. Complete virus particles were contained in the band with a buoyant density of 1.34 g/cm3. The complete virus particles had the morphology of adenoviruses, as determined by EM. The buoyant densities of extracted viral DNA from the 3 viruses were estimated to be 1.7089, 1.7154 and 1.7132 g/cm3 which corresponded to guanine + cytosine contents of 51, 57 and 55%, respectively.
