Pharmacological basis of dosage form of two antimalarials: chloroquine and mepacrine

The concentrations of chloroquine and mepacrine in the stomach wall of rats after administration by various routes are tabulated. Both drugs inhibited gastric emptying, but this effect could be minimized by parenteral or duodenal (entero-coated tablets) administration, thus avoiding the stomach.
