The current methods of evaluation of the antiepizootic effect of eradication of rodents in natural foci of plague do not yield valid results attesting to cessation of the plague enzootic. Reduction in the population density of rodents achieves only an immediate effect of enzootic inhibition, which ends when the population density of carriers is restored.
