Investigations were carried out during Nov. 1978-March 1979 in and around Delhi area to study the overwintering mechanism of C. tritaeniorhynchus Giles. Complete absence of adults of this species was observed during 1st wk of Dec. to 1st wk of Feb. Contrary to this, 3rd and 4th instar larvae were detected at extremely low density level throughout the winter season. Apparently, overwintering of C. tritaeniorhynchus takes place in the larval stage in this area. Prolonged larval development was observed in the laboratory as well as simulated conditions. The results were discussed in the light of relevant literature.
