Ninety three women belonging to two villages Prahladpur and Barwala of Delhi were fitted with Tcu 200 device (IUCD) and followed-up for a period of one year thereafter. Majority of the acceptors were young and educated with mean parity of three. In 58 per cent of acceptors, IUCD was inserted in the post-menstrual phase which is the ideal time. Commonest misconception in the minds of acceptors was that IUCD would be pushed up into the thorax, and the commonest medical problem was menorrhagia. Removals accounted for 12.9 per 100 users and commonest reason for removal was non-medical particularly family pressure. Failure rate observed was 1.06 and expulsions were 2.15 per 100 users.
