Analysis of the incidence of measles in Karl-Marx-Stadt County with special reference to infants

Measles antibodies were determined in 502 babies aged 1-12 mo. in 1978 and in 533 newborns and their mothers in 1979. The tests revealed a relatively large immunity gap in the 1st trimester after birth and in newborns. This immunity gap may possibly be attributed to a change in the epidemiological situation brought about by vaccine prophylaxis against measles.
