Metomidate anesthesia in dogs with different premedications

Pharmacological tests and clinical experiences with i.v. Metomidate-anesthesia of more than 1700 dogs are reported. This kind of anesthesia was proved in clinical use as alternative to barbiturate-anesthesia with Hypnorm-premedication and with Combelen + Polamivet or Thalamonal. The application of atropine as an addition to the premedication is not advisable due to negative effects on blood-circulation.
