Concomitant use of oxfendazole & trichlorfon as an equine anthelmintic in mares

Ten horses were treated simultaneously with oxfendazole (10 mg/kg body-weight) and trichlorfon (40 mg/kg). After 10 days faecal strongyle egg counts were reduced by 99% and only one horse still had detectable numbers of eggs in its faeces. From one to 8 bot larvae were eliminated in the faeces. 10 days after treatment the horses were again given trichlorfon (40 mg/kg). No further bot larvae were expelled, indicating that the activity of trichlorfon had not been compromised by simultaneous administration with oxfendazole. None of the horses showed adverse effects.
