Five methods for the detection of Trichomonas vaginalis in clinical material were compared using 247 specimens. A total of 26 specimens were positive: 21 were positive by acridine orange stain, 11 each by Leishman stain and culture, 10 by Diff-Quik stain and 6 by direct microscopical examination (wet preparation).
