Scanning electron microscopy of Sarcocystis fusiformis from Bubalus bubalis revealed the presence of 2 cyst walls and distinct, irregularly-shaped compartments, divided by septal walls 1 to 5 mu m thick, within the cyst. The compartments contain numerous merozoites and some appeared to be covered by a thin, membrane-like exudate. Each merozoite has a micropore situated in the anterior half, and ridge-like structures originate from the conoidal end and pass backwards along the body of the parasite.
