A study was made of the amino-acids in the plasma and urine of 18 adult patients infected with Schistosoma haematobium and of 50 with S. mansoni. In the last group, accumulation of amino-acids in the plasma was due to derangement of liver function and to degeneration of the liver cells. In patients with S. haematobium, amino-aciduria was partly due to overflow and to haematuria, but in severe cases degeneration of urinary tract tissue may have been a contributory factor.
