The membrane filter method permitted the set-up of a fungicidal assay with dermatophyte strains, giving accurate and reproductible results. Using this method a fungicidal comparative assay was performed with a Trichophyton interdigitale strain, in conidial or in homogenous suspensions; homogenous suspensions were studied previously. As the results are satisfactory and confirm those of fungistatic assay, an antifungal assay procedure is proposed; it is based on the use of homogenous suspensions of dermatophytes. These are easy to handle and, compared to conidial suspensions, can be prepared with a larger diversity of strains.
