Enzootic occurrence of pulmonary adenomatosis in 13 sheep near Bern

After the initial case was diagnosed in March 1978, thirteen further cases were found in seven flocks during the subsequent 11 months. There were contacts between sheep in six of the flocks by grazing common pastures or by movement of animals. The main symptom was chronic dyspnoea, with or without cough, nasal discharge and emaciation. All affected sheep were slaughtered, and pathological and histological findings are described. Electron microscopy failed to reveal viral particles.
