Eleven compounds from the group of benzimidazole-2-carbamates were studied in search for active trichinellocidals. The most effective drugs in treatment of trichinella larvae in vitro were methyl (medamine, G-842) and ethyl (G-756) esters of benzimidazole-2-carbamic acid. The structure-activity relationships in this series were observed. Treatment of experimental trichinellosis in rats with medamine in a dose of 100 mg/kg in the intestinal stage (1-6 days) results in prevention of the invasion development. Administration of the drug at the stages of migrating (8-13 days), non-encapsulated (15-20 days) and encapsulated (39-44 days) trichinella larvae reduced the intensity of muscle invasion by 62.4-68.7%.
