Comparative studies of methods used for helminthological analysis of soil, developed by Namitokov (1961), Gefter and Shigina (1962), Gudzhabidze (1969), Romanenko (1968, 1976) and an unpublished method by L. I. Oganov and coworkers, showed the superiority of the latter. The method involves filtration of the entire supernatant fluid obtained by mixing soil specimens with 5% caustic alkali solution in a mixer, as suggested by Gudzhabidze (1969) for the detection of helminth eggs.
