Transmission of KFD [Kyanasur Forest disease] virus by D. auratus was studied. The larvae were infected by feeding on viremic rodents [mice, Funambulus tristriatus tristriatus and Rattus blanfordi]. They transmitted the virus trans-stadially into molted nymphs and adults. The nymphal stages transmitted the virus by bite to susceptible rodents.
