Contribution to the findings of eggs of Ascaris suum Goeze, 1782 in calves kept in the large-scale calf houses

Examination of the faeces of 1,306 calves kept in a large scale unit in Czechoslovakia revealed 8 species of coccidia and 5 of helminths (Strongyloides papillosus, Trichuris ovis, Cooperia spp. Oesophagostomum radiatum and Ascaris suum). The presence of A. suum in 11 calves may be explained by the presence of large pig yards nearby, perhaps resulting in contamination of forage by pig faeces.
