Pretreatment with wheat gluten resulted in decreased radioactivity in plasma and in brain of mice after oral administration of tritiated haloperidol. Interference by gluten with the rate of haloperidol absorption from the gastrointestinal tract was discussed. Results reported by Singh and Kay, i.e., that wheat gluten had a similar effect in schizophrenic patients, was discussed.
