The acute toxicity of trichloromethane, bromodichloromethane, dibromochloromethane and tribromomethane was studied in mice following administration by gastric gavage. Gross pathological changes included fatty infiltration of the liver and signs of hemorrhage in the kidneys, adrenals, lungs and brain. Median lethal doses (LD50) were also calculated. The males were more sensitive to each of the compounds than females.
