The effects of lesion of the raphe nuclei and treatment with p-chlorophenylalanine (p-CPA) were studied in rats with a genetically determined susceptibility to audiogenic seizures. The serotonin-depleting lesions of the nucleus raphe medianus and nucleus raphe dorsalis produced no changes in seizure intensity. On the other hand treatment with p-CPA strongly intensified seizures.
