Susceptibility to audiogenic seizures in rodents following withdrawal of anticonvulsant drugs

267 mice and 28 rats initially unresponsive to audiogenic stimulation were treated with anticonvulsant drugs for periods of 8-40 days. After drug withdrawal the animals were tested with acoustic stimulus. Susceptibility to audiogenic seizures was found in mice (5-11%) and in rats (38-43%) following withdrawal of diazepam, phenobarbital sodium, phenytoin. Withdrawal of carbamazepine had no effect.
