By means of morphometric analysis of neurocytes in the guinea pig pancreatic intramural ganglia, it was demonstrated that the intramural neural ganglia are characterized by morphofunctional heterogeneity. Three populations of neurocytes have been detected: small, middle and large. Their major mass (middle) is identified as efferent, smaller mass (large), as afferent and small ones, as intercalary.
