Therapy of mycetoma (maduromycosis) of the foot

Altogether 13 patients with mycetoma of the foot were treated at the Inst. Usovershen. Vrachei, Leningrad, during 1961-74. The treatment of 4 involved amputation of the infected foot. The remainder had conservative treatment; in 8 there was an improvement and in 1 complete recovery. A case of a 57-yr-old female with mycetoma of the right foot is reported. The foot was successfully cured by intravenous injection of morphocycline (9 000 000 units), internal administration of sulphadimezine (160 g) and the application on the foot of paraffin.
