The symptoms are described in 19 dogs that were observed in Kenya from the time of presentation until death. Rabies was confirmed by laboratory tests in each case. Vicious behaviour was seen in only six dogs. Paralytic signs and/or abnormal behaviour ("dumb" rabies) were more frequent. Six of the dogs had received Flury strain LEP vaccination. Intense conjunctival congestion was an important diagnostic feature.
