The level of ATP and ADP in rat myocardium as affected by various doses of adrenaline was reported. Changes depended on animal age and adrenaline dose. In old rats myocardial sensitivity to adrenaline increases. In the adult animals the adrenaline effect is due to the direct and mediated action by stimulation of the vagus nerve. The mediated adrenaline action in old rats is less pronounced.
