Two Beagle bitches, which were kept free from helminths until the commencement of the experiment, were injected with 20 000 embryonated eggs of T. canis, one on the day of conception, the other on the day of parturition, in order to investigate the degree of prenatal infection and the possibility of lactogenic infection. A total of 1682 T. canis larvae were found in the newborn pups of the first bitch killed at birth; 95% of these were concentrated in the liver and most of the remainder in the lungs; 13 T. canis larvae were excreted in the milk 5-13 days after delivery. In the second bitch excretion of larvae in the milk started on the fourth day after infection, reaching a peak of 200 larvae per day during the second week and continuing until the twentieth day. A total of 1907 larvae were collected by the end of the experiment.
