Two of seven pathogen-free piglets inoculated intranasally with Bordetella bronchiseptica developed clinical symptoms of fever and convulsions on days 7 and 12. One died on day 9 and the other became moribund on day 13. The organism was isolated from many organs including the brain. It was suggested that purulent cerebral lesions, as well as turbinate atrophy observed in these animals, was caused by this organism.
