Study of TMV reconstruction products by means of gel chromatography on agarose

Chromatography on a 2% agarose gel column was used to fractionate the products of assembled tobacco mosaic virus [TMV]. Two peaks were obtained; the 1st peak contained completely assembled TMV particles, and the 2nd peak contained incomplete particles. The described method for fractionating the products of assembled TMV gives the same result as hydroxyapatite ion-exchange column chromatography.
