A description is given of certain properties of nystatine, an antibiotic obtained by the method of extraction with primary alcohols from mycelium, followed by vaccumevaporation of aqueous-alcoholic extracts. A study was made of the solubility of certain samples of nystatine in methanol.. ethanol, and isopropanol, as well as the effect of the degree of hydration of certain alcohols and acetone on the increase of nystation solubility. The stability of the antibiotic under conditions of both acid and alkaline pH values, the thermostability of dry and humid preparations of nystatine and of the mycelium of Actinomyces noursei was also assessed. In the process of isolation and chemical purification of nystatine a biologically inactive substance of unlimited nature was isolated and preliminarily studied, for which the name of "white admixture" was suggested. The possibility to increase the activity of poorly active samples of nystatine by washinethem in various organic solvents is demonstrated
