Characteristics of 21S and 7,5S RNP particles from cytoplasm of normal and neoplastic cells

Ribonucleoprotein (RNP) particles were isolated from tumor (sarcoma M-1, sarcoma 45, Jensen sarcoma, hepatoma 27) and normal (brain, liver, spleen) tissue of rats, and human polymorphic liposarcoma cells transplanted into rats. Sedimentation analysis, ultracentrifugation in saccharose gradient and comparative study of particle proteins in polyacrylamide gel showed that all particles had the same physical and chemical properties and may have the same functions in cells. A significantly accelerated incorporation of 14C-leucine in fractions containing 21S- and 7.5S-particles in comparison with ribosomal fractions was observed in all tissues.
