Drug trial in giardiasis with furazolidine

In India, 306 children with giardiasis were given furazolidine orally at 6 to 10 mg/kg body-weight daily in 3 or 4 divided doses for 6 to 8 days, the dose depending on the severity of the symptoms. 90.5% were negative at 7 to 15 days, 97.8% at one month and 98.4% at 2 months after treatment.
