645 Haryana females of different Hb phenotypes were randomly bred over a 4-yr period without reference to Hb type. Calving rate of type AA females was significantly higher than that of AB and BB females (67 v 47.5 and 51.1%). Type AA females also calved at a significantly earlier age (1237 plus or minus 28 days) than AB and BB females (1336 plus or minus 32 and 1340 plus or minus 25 days resp.).
