In December, 1983, avian paramyxovirus, serotype 3, was isolated for the first time in France-from two turkey breeder flocks on one farm, which experienced an acute, temporary fall in egg production, but no respiratory symptoms. In addition, two different isolates of PMV2 were obtained from two different flocks of imported turkeys affected with rhinotracheitis; one of these flocks also yielded haemorrhagic enteritis virus and Chlamydia.
