In four experiments, 38 horses were treated with mebendazole at several dose levels above the usual anthelmintic dose (8.8 mg/kg): 44, 88, 176, and 352 mg/kg in single doses and 8.8, 26.4, and 52.8 mg/kg/day for 15 days. All horses were observed each day during treatment and then they were killed and examined. No clinical or pathological changes attributable to the anthelmintic were observed.
