Use of Dipetalonema dessetae Bain, 1973, new rodent filaria (Proechimys sp.) as antigen in the diagnosis of human filariasis by the immunofluorescent method

Dipetalonema dessetae and D. wite antigens were compared in the indirect immunofluorescent test using a conjugate of human antigammaglobulins diluted 1/40 and Evans Blue diluted 1/10,000. Sera from 14 cases of onchocerciasis, 11 of loaiasis and 10 of Wuchereria bancrofti infection were studied, and the results appear to show a greater sensitivity from the D. dessetae antigen and good agreement between the 2 antigens even though the tests had been carried out by different laboratories and had at times been carried out on a given serum at a 3-month interval.
