Capillary-tube agglutination, indirect fluorescent antibody and CF tests were used on serum samples from 1018 animals. Antibodies to Anaplasma marginale, A. centrale, and Babesia bigemina were demonstrated in most of the cattle tested. Investigations on the occurrence of antibodies to Theileria were undertaken with serum samples from 73 cattle from a limited area in northern Botswana. Positive reactions were found with Theileria parva and Th. mutans antigens. Although cases of theileriosis have not been reported from this region, the possible danger of East Coast fever developing is discussed.
