It has already been demonstrated [see ABA 42, 1605] that, in F1 hybrids between the CB and WB lines, the ability for good antibody production after immunisation with small doses of dinitrophenol conjugated to fowl gamma -globulin or with human serum albumin is dominant in inheritance. In the present paper, an association was found, in WBX(CBXWB) backcrosses, between good production of anti-dinitrophenol antibodies and the B1 allele at the major histocompatibility locus. Antibody titres did not appear to be influenced by the E or C blood-group loci.
