Of 55 strs. of P. belonging to 16 spp., P. puberulum was highly toxic to 2-day-old ducklings fed extracts for 7 days. P. frequentans, P. citrinum and P. lanosum were also toxic for ducklings. Three strs. toxic for ducklings showed no toxicity for rats. Of 19 strs. of other genera, Fusarium roseum was toxic to both animals and 3 strs. of Cladosporium herbarum were toxic for ducklings. Extracts of P. lanosum, F. roseum and Trichothecium roseum caused positive skin reactions in rats.
