The authors review their recent work on larval digeneans in snails in the Warak El Arab area (north of Cairo, Egypt,) and on competitive interaction between echinostomes and schistosomes. The possibilities of the latter phenomenon for the biological control of schistosomes in areas with dense networks of irrigation canals are discussed.
