Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase: comparison of kinetic contants among different breeds of sheep

Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase was partially purified from Southdown, Suffolk, Corriedale, and Hampshire sheep. Michaelis-Menten constants (Km) for glucose-6-phosphate (G6P) were measured. The Km-G6P were compared, using a weighted analysis of variance to remove the unwanted sources of variability. The Km-G6P were significantly greater for the Corriedale than for the Southdown breed. Other breed differences were not observed.
