Stilbazium Iodide (Monopar) in the Treatment of Human Trichuriasis

Stilbazium iodide (Monopar) was tested against Trichuris trichiura in 500 individuals in Puerto Rico. The most effective treatment was 125 to 250 mg. per day for 2 to 3 days curing 32 of 39 severely affected patients. Apart from some vomiting, observed in 10 to 15% of the cases, the drug was without side effects.
