Literature on the use of counterelectrophoresis for the diagnosis of parasitic infections is reviewed according to parasite group (protozoa, trematodes, cestodes and nematodes). The advantages of the test are the small amounts of reactants required, cheapness and rapidity; the main disadvantage is the large number of false positives which are obtained when crude antigens are used.
