Literature on the use of the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for the diagnosis of parasitic infections is reviewed according to parasite group (protozoa, trematodes, cestodes, nematodes). The quantitative nature of ELISA and its high sensitivity are important advantages, but the test requires a great deal of care in its standardization.
